About Us

Carrollton Academy of Dance has the distinction of being the oldest dance studio in Carroll County. The studio began in 1977, and today is under the direction of Heather Parker. Since the beginning, CAD has specialized in age appropriate costuming, musical selections, and choreography. We hold all of our teachers and students to the highest of expectations and encourage all to give nothing less than their best in every endeavor they commit to. We offer classes for students wishing for just a recreational activity and also to those who want to train more intensively. Classes are offered in the disciplines of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary. Periodically throughout the year we also offer Musical Theatre camps, six week sessions for those who do not want to commit to an entire season, master classes, and much more! Classes start at the age of 2 years.

CAD produces three shows each year. In the winter all students of the ballet program perform in our annual production of The Nutcracker. We also have our annual Winter Extravaganza Recital for other styles of dance and our youngest dancers. In the Spring semester we end our season with our annual recital show. The end of season show is a different theme each year and typically is held the first weekend in June.

CAD is the home to the Parker Dance Company. Members of the PDC are chosen through audition, or by invitation from the director. These students travel throughout the south for conventions, workshops, and competitions. The PDC continues to bring home top honors year after year. PDC was founded in 2003 to give CAD students more performance opportunities, and also to grow more extensively in the art of dance. While winning at competition is great; teaching the art of dance, emphasizing correct technique, focusing on character building, working with teammates, and fostering qualities such as hard work, dedication, and perseverance are what being a member of PDC is all about.
